This is not strictly a QOD topic - but users may be interested in a setup that I devised to allow me to walk while working on the computer or surfing the web.
At the least, it keeps me from sitting all day.
Here is the link:

The idea is, to combine work and exercise; plus, if you're around (on) the treadmill a lot, it's nice to schedule in brief runs of 1/4 to 1/2 mile (at 4-5 mi/hr), especially after meals, to lower glycogen stores and put the calories that you've eaten into glycogen rather than fat. I also try to run 1/4 mile in the evenings before going to bed.
But walking is also nice - 1.5 miles/hr will allow you to still work on the keyboard and mouse while doing non-keyboard intensive things, like installing software, surfing, looking for things, etc.
When you have to type a lot, then you need to stop and work standing.
All of this certainly beats sitting for 8 hours a day.
One caution: Don't walk for too long with your hands on the shelf- you might get some shoulder discomfort; when not typing or mousing, let your arms hang down by your sides. And don't put the shelf too high - this also will put strain on your shoulder.
